Help with Forms PLEASE

R

retr0guy

I have set up a form, however after I put in the email and everything like that, it says that I need Microsoft Server Extensions for it to work, and asks if I want to take the email address out. How can I fix this so that I can get the form to work. Without it nothign will work and I have been trying to figure it out for weeks...

I use Frontpage 2000...I have tried installed server extensions, and everything and still says the same thing. Please help!!

You need to publish the site/form to a server that has the FP extensions
installed via FP's http mode, and as long as the host has the extensions
configured to process email, then the form should work.

This generally occurs because you're using a disk-based Web.

If you have a Web server running on your PC, open your Web
using an http:// address, such as http://127.0.0.1.myweb
or http://localhost/myweb.

If you're using a disk-based Web locally but publish to a server
that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed, just ignore the
error message. Everything should be OK when you upload the
page to the server and browse it from there.

I have to use an ftp to upload to our server which is hosted by Earthlink. I am using a disk based web. Even if I ignore this when you go through the form steps and select submit it says this:

Front-Page Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a pge that requires a web serv and the FrontPage Server extensions to function properly...

You can check the very rough page at:

www.tifsa.org/buybook.html

At the top of the form also says FrontPage Save reslts Component which we do not want there.

And next, if I try to publish to web through FrontPage I get to the login page but it does not accept the password even though it is correct...hope you can help. Thanks...

The form, guest book, discussion web, hit counter, etc. will only work when
publish via FP's http mode to a server that has the FP extensions. It will
not work if you have to upload via FTP, and it will not work in a disk-based
web.

ok, how would one ge the http to work. If I try to upload to server with FP it asks for user name and login which I provide and then asks again with password blank, even though the password is correct. How do I set up the http mode in FP?

You need to contact your host. The FP extension must be installed, and you
would access or publish to http://www.yourdomainname.com

http mode is the default publishing mode for FP, so there is nothing to
configure, it is all based on how you enter the publishing location/URL and
if the FP extensions are installed.

Your host would need to install the FrontPage Server Extensions, or give you
a way to do that yourself.

If your host doesn't offer the extensions, they probably offer alternative
programs that can send form results as mail or save them in a file. Consult
the host's support pages for details.
