help with: insert web component>included content>page

ms office FrontPage 2003 sp2
win xp pro sp2

I do the following:
1.. Save word file as htm
2.. Import into FrontPage
3.. Insert word.htm into a FrontPage.htm file by using: insert web component>included content>page
The following problem arises when I view the FrontPage.htm file on the www (but not on my HD on the local machine):
1.. In the space into which word.htm should be loaded within the FrontPage.htm file, certain webbot components of the FrontPage.htm file are loaded (e.g., a hitcounter, or navigation bars which may be from shared borders or from other regions of FrontPage.htm).
2.. Word.htm is not loaded into FrontPage.htm. Instead, the filename and directory path of word.htm are shown, but the directory name is duplicated (instead of [directory/word.htm], [directory/directory/word.htm] is shown).
3.. If I select word.htm in the file list view and choose format>shared borders>selected pages>uncheck all shared borders, the behavior us not changed.
Can anybody help me fix this problem?

Thanks,

Clem.

You can't "include" a word file.
It has to be a html file ( web page ) created in FrontPage.

The content that is "included" is what is between the <body></body tags in
the web page.

A shared border on an included page doesn't sound like a good idea.

Steve,

Thanks for your reply.

1, I did not include a word file. I included a word file saved as htm.

2, Why does the included content display as expected on the local HD (disk
based web), but not on the remote server?

Thanks,

Clem.

Rob,

Thanks for your reply.

1, The shared border is not on the included page. The shared border is on
the "host" page (into which another page is inserted; the inserted page is
placed into a portion of the "host" page which is not a shared border).

2, Why does the included content display as expected on the local HD (disk
based web), but not on the remote server?

Thanks for your help!

Rob,

Thanks for writing.

Here is example 1; I inserted the sub-page as a file (insert>file), and this
looks as it should (but it's a pain to do because the sub-page content in
the host page is not updated dynamically as with "insert web
component>included content>page")
http://ohiorepromed.com/info_shg.htm (the sub-page content starts with "Ohio
Reproductive Medicine Patient Information" and ends with the paragraph
starting with "4.")

Here is example 2: same as above, but I used "insert web component>included
content>page" to insert the sub-page:
http://ohiorepromed.com/info_shg_copy(1).htm (garbled sub-page...)

Here is example 3: I actually found one sub-page that displays properly,
even with the "insert web component>included content>page" function (I
compared the sub-pages that don't display properly (e.g. example 2 above)
with the sub-page in 3, but I cannot find the difference...)
http://ohiorepromed.com/info_metformin.htm

Your feed-back is greatly appreciated!

Ok, let's backup a second. Why are you using included content here? Is that
content intended to display in *several* different pages and subject to
frequent minor changes? If not, I'm not sure why you are using included page
content.

Rob,

Frequent minor changes; it is easier to simply copy the new version into a
directory and then update the remote web, rather than opening the host file
each time and inserting the file.

Thanks,

Clem.
