help with object/equation insertion

David W

I'm trying to insert objects and equations into my document and the default
setting has them being inserted "in line with text". Because I'm creating
math worksheets for my students, I need to be able to move these objects
around and it's a major pain to individually select each item and then go to
Format > Object and so on.

Is there a way to change the defaut setting so that all objects get inserted
as I want them (In front of text, and preferably with "move object with
text" and "allow overlap" unchecked)?

Thanks so much,
David

In Word 2002, you can change the default on the Edit tab of Tools | Options.
In Word 2000, you'd need a macro, or you could save a sample equation as an
AutoText entry. FWIW, inline equations are much easier to handle.

Thanks for your reply. I had already tried what you recommended, and found
that it only works for pictures. It doesn't work for other objects and/or
equations.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
David

Hmm. That's surprising/annoying. I knew it didn't work for Paste Special
(which always pastes floating), but I would have thought it would have
worked for Insert | Object.

You mentioned that in word 2000 I'd need a madro to insert a floating image
(as apposed to the standard in-line). I just can't seent to figure out how
to do this. In Word XP it's easy to fix this (extra - options), but I need
to insert bitmaps in word in floating form - preferably without changing
each bitmap's properties. Could you help me with this.

Thanks

Peter.
