help with resources substitute

Greetings.
I can't understand how I can use Substitute Resources. I have
corporate resourse pool and virtual resources in my project plan. Can
anybody tell me what I have to do if I want to substitute them?? When
I try to do this One real people assigned to all tasks and others are
ignored at all.

Hi,

Do you have skills assigned to your resources and Generic Resources? If not,
the substitute wizard has nothing to work with.

Alexander,

Rod is correct about the substitution wizard not working witout skills
assigned and generic resources.

You can do a one to one replace of generic resources(I believe you call
them virtual resources) with resources from the enterprise (corporate)
resource pool by doing a Tools>Build Team from Enterprise... while you
have the plan open in Project Professional.

You can only do a replace if the generic (virtual) or local resource
does not already have actual work associated to it. You will know if
they do have actuals associated to them because you will receive a
warning message stating that fact.

Once way around that in the case of local resources is to make sure the
local resource names matches exactly the name of the enterprise
(corporate) resource you want to replace it with. You can then save
the plan off as an mpp and do an import of the mpp project plan onto
the server. In the import process you have the ability to replace
local resources with enterprise ones. By making sure the names match
before hand, it will automatically find the right enterprise resource
to replace the local one with.
