help Word as email editor in Office 2003 professional

I ran windows xp defragmentor last night. Today my Office 2003 is no longer
behaving well. Outlook will open word to edit emails, but when I attempt to
save an email I am editing or a newly created email, or when I attempt to
send an email from Outlook (with word set as the editor) I get an error:
"interface is not registered". or "unspecified error". Event log does not
show an application or system error.

I have uninstalled office, deleted the office directory and rebooted. Then
reinstalled office and I still get the same error. If I use Outlook as the
email editor - no problem.

How do I get my Office 2003 proffessional back the way it was. :-(.
