Help... Word no longer displays pictures except in print preview m

I am running in dual monitor mode. The document pictures display correctly
on every computer (single mode) but mine. I can only see them in print
preview. In print layout i see the box indicating where the picture is but i
can not see anything. Any ideas?

Tools>Options>View and uncheck Picture Placeholders

Thanks Doug, I did have that box checked by accident. I read some posts that
mentioned it but it still doesn't solve my problem.
I think I maybe having a graphics card issue as word crashes anytime I load
a doc with a header/footer or picture in it.

I have reinstalled the graphics drivers and reinstalled word but it still
crashes.
