HELP - Word2002 - 'Symbols' font gone

A

APE

I just attempted to use Equation and Word said that Symbol
was no longer available for use. I just checked in my
fonts list and Symbols has dissapeared.

I've tried to look for help in the 'self-service' sections
but couldn't find anything.

Please help!

I just attempted to use Equation and Word said that Symbol
was no longer available for use. I just checked in my

The Symbol font is included with Office, but it's not something
you can just load easily off the CD. Depending on your version of
Office, it's probably available in a CAB file on the CD, that you
may be able to access via Windows Explorer by double-clicking on
the CAB. Here's where you can find Symbol.ttf: (If your CD drive
isn't "D", substitute the appropriate letter.)

Office 2003 -- [not available]
Office XP -- D:\FILES\OSP\1033\OSP1.CAB
Office 2000 -- OFFICE1.CAB, in the root folder of the CD

Microsoft used to make their fonts available for download from
their web site, but they don't any more.

Are you using the equation toolbar? Or doing this via Insert/Symbol?
.

I tried both - and neither worked.

I've just followed Bob Matthews advice and got symbol.ttf
off the CD, so I'll let you know how it goes.
