Is there any way to keep all boxes in an org chart from changing just because
you are messing with one of them???!!! It is so frustrating. In the old
powerpoint (which is sooooooooooo much better), you could do whatever you
wanted to each box and it didn't affect the rest. Please give me
suggestions!!!!

Rebecca,
PowerPoint 2003 I presume?
On the org chart toolbar click Layout and disable automatic layout at the
bottom. That should let you edit each box individually.
In general you are much better of drawing your own boxes and connecting them
with connector lines.

PowerPoint 2007 has better options, org charts are in SmartArt now and can
very easily be modified.

I'm using 2007. It's the SmartArt that won't let me do anything. I never had
this problem with 2003. Suggestions?

If you manually specify the font size, it won't move around as much.
Alternatively, type in all your text, then move stuff around.

You can also draw your own Org Chart using the rectangles and connectors on
the Shapes gallery.
