First off:

Most people who post here need help. That's what the group is for.

Secondly: this group is free, and the people who answer are all unpaid
volunteers. We're not hired tech support people sitting waiting for a
question, with a two-minute response time requirement.

You're being extraordinarily rude posting a demand like this two hours after
your original request.

Thirdly: base a Form on your table. Put a Combo Box on the form using the
toolbox wizard. Choose the option "Use this combo to find a record".

ok sorry I wasnt trying to be rude...

How do you base a form onto a table? And when I do the combo box..a box with
a label comes up with another box next to it that is blank..

im sorry if im being a bother..

If you still haven't been able to create a search facility, I can build
one for you for a modest fee. I provide help with Access, Excel and Word
applications for a reasonable fee. I will check over the design of your
tables to make sure you got that right and build a search facility where
you lookup the contact you want, click a button and that contact's record
pops up. If you want my help, contact me.

You forgot the part about questionable results for unreasonable prices.

These newsgroups are provided by Microsoft for FREE peer to peer support.
There are many highly qualified individuals who gladly help for free. Stevie
is not one of them, but he is the only one who just does not get the idea of
"FREE" support. He offers questionable results at unreasonable prices. If he
was any good, the "thousands" of people he claims to have helped would be
flooding him with work, but there appears to be a continuous drought and he
needs to constantly grovel for work.

A few gems gleaned from the Word New User newsgroup over the Christmas
holidays to show Stevie's "expertise" in Word.

Word 2007 ..........
In older versions of Word you could highlght some text then go to Format -
Change Case and change the case of the hoghloghted text. Is this still
available in Word 2007? Where?
Thanks! Steve

I am designing a series of paystubs for a client. I start in landscape and
draw a table then add columns and rows to setup labels and their
corresponding value. This all works fine. After a landscape version is
completed, I next need to design a portrait version. Rather than strating
from scratch, I'd like to be able to cut and paste from the landscape
version and design the portrait version.

How do you protect the document for filling in forms?
Steve

One of my favourites:
Dec 30, 2008 8:07 PM - a reply to stevie
(The original poster asked how to sort a list and stevie offered to create
the OP an Access database)
Yes, you are right but a database is the correct tool to use not a
spreadsheet.

Not at all. If it's just a simple list then a spreadsheet is perfectly
adequate...

In Access 2003 (I'm not familiar with the A2007 Ribbon) from the menu
choose Insert | Form | Form Wizard and follow the prompts. On the first
screen of the wizard you can select which table you want the new form
based on. It sounds to me like you are getting an empty combo box
because you have used the toolbox to create an unbound combo box.

After you have attempted the form wizard come back here with any
questions you still have.

Not at all ... this forum is a good place to learn ... and when you
don't know something, well, generally I've found that I don't know what
I don't know! (Imagine that!) All we ask is that you try the
suggestions we offer; and that you be as specific and informative as
possible when posting your questions.

Also, browse through other threads -- you'll quickly see how the forum
works.

Here is a FREE demo I recently created for a poster at another forum. It is
FREE to download, and if you try to implement some of the ideas in it, you
can always come back here and ask SPECIFIC questions about SPECIFIC issues
and some one will offer FREE help.

The one thing this demo is NOT is simple. You will need to invest some time
and effort in trying to understand how Access works.

I believe that someone has already posted a link to Allen Browne's demo of
the process.

Keep in mind that anything worth having involves an investment of your time
and effort. Repeatedly begging people to spend hours, and I mean many, many
hours, to create something for you is probably not a very noble way to go
about getting what you need. On the other hand, the help you will get here
is FREE and it is always available in reasonable quantities.

Best of luck with YOUR EFFORTS.

Oh, wait, that one has the powder blue splash. I forgot which was which. The
newest one has the green splash.

I wonder how long it will be before a certain troll tries to sell this
solution as his own?

John:

I believe in the principle of Karma. Like everyone else who distributes
their samples, their demos and their code, I do so fully aware that it can
be used or abused in many ways. Far better coders than I (see Tom's and
Allen's links above in this thread, for example) freely distribute their
work with no expectation other than it might prove to be helpful to someone
in need. And there are many others who do the same, some at considerable
personal expense.

There is, of course, another side to that. We expect that the person who
receives those packets of knowledge will contribute to the process
themselves by investing time and energy in learning how best to implement
them. Speaking purely on a personal level, I don't mind spending quite a bit
time with a person if it appears they are investing their own effort to
improve their skills and knowledge. Someday, I expect, they'll do the same
for others. Again speaking personally, I also have a very low level of
tolerance for the whiners who just want someone to do it for them. They are
takers who will never be grateful after the moment they get want they want.

Wikipedia is our friend.

"In the (Anguttara Nikaya Nibbedhika Sutta) the Buddha said :

'Intention (cetana), monks, is karma, I say. Having willed, one acts through
body, speech and mind.'

Every time a person acts there is some quality of intention at the base of
the mind and it is that quality rather than the outward appearance of the
action that determines the effect. If a person professes piety and virtue
but nonetheless acts with greed, anger or hatred (veiled behind an outward
display of well-meaning intent) then the fruit of those actions will bear
testimony to the fundamental intention that lay behind them and will be a
cause for future unhappiness. "

I admire your philosophy and also the pay it forward theory. I enjoy helping
others, just for the chance to do it, but I am also a realist and do know
about leopards and their spots.
