Got a database on a remote path. It has linked tables. when i try to compact
it i get, "you do not have
necessary permission ..". Its author has gone for long. I am not much
familiar with database security. so, can anyone explain to me how to
accomplish this step by step?. I copied it to my own local pc and still did
not work. ver.2003.

Not so sure that is a database issue as much a folder permission issue. Do
you have Read, Write and Delete to the folder where the database resides?

yes, i do. i think the mdw file of this database is missing or is in a
computer that is gone long ago. what is best and easiest way to tackle this?.

You're going to need that MDW... what about a back-up? If no back-up... do
Google search and see if you can find a company that will assist.
