hidden cells

Select the common row and column header (top left corner above "1" and to
the left of "A"). This selects all cells on the worksheet. You can then
access the format cells function. HTH

i have been sent a work book where one of the sheets is blank it appears that
all of the cells have been selected and then hidden is there any way i can
get them back?

Select the cells and go to Format>Cells>Protection and clear the Hidden
checkbox. You may als be dealing with a sheet that has been Protected, in
which case that option will not be active. If so, go to
Tools>Protection>Unprotect Sheet first. If you don't get prompted for a
Password you should then be able to change the Hidden property. If there is a
Password prompt & you don't have the password you'll need to contact whoever
supplied you with the file.

there are no cells to select the author has selected the entire sheet and
hidden the cells all that is visible is the colum letters, no rows are
visible is there a way to reveal these cells?

When a cell has the "hidden" property enabled it just hides the cell contents
in the formula bar.

It will still show up in the cell itself so don't think this is OP's problem.

Why do you think data is hidden?

Do you see anything in the formula bar when you select a cell?

Are your row numbers and column letters consecutive or some missing?

If so, hit CTRL + A(twice in xl2003) and right-click on a row or column header
and "unhide".

OR..........Perhaps both Cyber's "hidden" and a custom format of ;;;

have tried this but am unable to select a row i beleive they selected the
entire sheet by clicking on the top left corner and then clicked 'Hide' if i
type in the cell no i can view what is written but i can't click any where to
'unhide'
any suggestions?

I think he was trying to hide a few rows of data but it looks like he
selected the entire sheet and then clicked 'Hide' if i type in the cell no i
can read the data but there doesnt appear to be any way to 'Unhide' the rows.

any ideas?

Many thanks to all who responded i have since figured it out so for the
benifit of those with a similar problem
1, manually locate a cell i.e. B1
2, selct format, row, unhide
3, this shows row 1 you can now select the entire row and unhide the
remaining rows
