How can i insert a hidden counter so that people can't view how many hits
i've had. And is it possible for the results to be mailed to my email
address?

Specify a custom hit count picture, such as a transparent
GIF file.

As to mailing yourself hit counts, this is something you'd
have to program.

Sorry to sound dumb, but i haven't got a clue how to specify a custom hit
count picture. I have a transparent picture but am not sure to to assign it
(If that makes any sense)

If its not to much trouble could someone please help me, i just can't figure
it out.

1. Add the transparent picture to your Web.
2. Open the page you want to contain the invisible hit counter.
3. Set the insertion point at the end of the page.
4. Choose Web Components from the Insert menu.
5. Select Hit Counter in the Component type list at the left, then
click Finish.
6. When the Hit Counter Properties dialog box appears, under Counter
Style,
select Custom Picture.
7. In the accompanying text box, type the location of the transparent
picture
from step 1. Begin this location with a slash, and specify it
relative to
the root of your Web.
If, for example, the picture is named trans.gif and it resides in
an
images folder just inside the root of your Web, specify
/images/trans.gif.
8. Save the Web page, and browse it using an http:// URL.

To view the current hit count, open the corrsponding .cnt file in your
Web's _private folder. Here are some examples.

Web Page Counter File
------------------- -------------------------------
default.htm _private/default.htm.cnt
products/shovel.htm _private/products/shovel.htm.cnt

Chances are, BTW, that your host has much more interesting and
attractive ways to measure hits than this.
