Hidden/deep bug in BCM?

G

George

I'm using Outlook2003w/BCM. I was working on Business Contacts (and for
Current View happened to be using "By Category" if that matters at all).

I noticed a few "Company" fields were blank for some business contacts, so
looked them up on an old Excel2003 spreadsheet I had, which has cells like
this:

---------------------------------------------------------------
Doe, John | IBM | Washington, DC |
---------------------------------------------------------------

So, for John Doe, I just clicked <Cntl>C on the Excel spreadsheet to copy
the cell with IBM in it. Then I went over to BCM and pasted it into BCM's
blank field for "Company."

Nightmare. The CPU ran and ran, finally got "not enough resources to
display correctly," it kept running, so I then had to shut down everything
manually, which took about 10 minutes. I tried this exercise again, same
thing happened. I doubt it's this PC, which is loaded with video memory,
RAM, everything else, and never done that before.

I'm wondering if BCM copied some formatting from the Excel cell, or
something... whatever it did, it completely throws BCM. It's unknown
whether this problem happens in other BCM fields. But maually key'ing into
the BCM field works good. And copy/paste in other apps (non-BCM) works just
fine also, so they seem to cast out formatting, or whatever, and just take
the text.

A bug?

Thanks for any insights,
George
