exactly: they're hidden for a reason - so people won't ask how to access them!

All sorts actually. The extensions have .btr (b-tree files for word indexes)
..cnf for config info, .lck for lock files and lots of others. The .web are
temp files generated by FP.

Hope this helps,

Well thanks that was very usefull

THe issue being not what is hidden on my machine but what contains data that
needs to be deleted when FP crashes and corrupts things like .web files that
retain username & password

Thanks that was quite useful, with my ISP (Shaw.ca) when uploading with FP
if an incorrect password is entered, the connection fails (of course)

However, unless I delete (on my system) the hidden .web files and others no
matter how many times I try to re log in (with the correct password) it
retains the "bad password" and gives me an FP style authentication error.
So obviously that information is retained on my system.

While I certainly enjoy the functionality of FP, It is "quirky" at best. I
still find myself having to write HTML Just faster and easier some times.

If there is a specific file that retains login information other that
the.web files that I can delete if this happens that information would be
welcomed

Thanks

FP uses your IE and Windows settings to maintain passwords
In IE use Tools Internet Options Content Auto Complete to clear them

Crash / Andrew

Thanks lads and as amusing as that is - it is not particularilly helpfull.
My question was generic for a reason sometimes I have found when you give
too much information people take you down the wrong tangent.. so just
trying a more basic approach

I work in IT but I do not deal with FP on a regular basis - mostly database
(Access - Oracle). So while that makes me a Newbie to FP it does not make me
a newbie to the fact that many MS applications have .hidden files as well as
files that retain user name and password information.

So to be more correct, I know how to find hidden files, but what files
within FP retain user name & password information. Of those files hidden or
not which should I delete.

My basic issue was this, I have different ISP's and the only thing that
seems to stand out is that the FP server on most is more "cranky" than the
average upload or ftp server.

Thanksi

Hi Stefan -Thanks

I have auto complete disabled
I have cleared these as well
FP is set to have me always enter user name & passwords, I never check the
Automatic.
(The main reason for this is that I have multiple accounts and different
ISP's, I have found it an issue in the past so I re-enter the information
each time)
I even deleted the old .pwl file just in case
I have disabled all IE proxy and security zones
I have tried it with all above and as well disabled my Zone Alarm Pro
(seldom an issue but you never know)
The issue is that I mistyped the password to my site - totally my fault but
somewhere the "bad" information is retained in a file

I am very IT comfortable but I do not deal with FP on a regular basis mostly
database (Access - Oracle)
