Hidden Pointer Reappears on Slides with Video

Has anyone figured out a way to keep the pointer (after hiding it) from
reappearing on slides with video other than making sure it is down in a
corner of the screen?

And is there a way to adjust the 3 seconds until the pointer disappears
setting (to make it shorter or longer)?
