Hidden Slides and Page Numbering

Microsoft Powerpoint V2000

Currently printing a Powerpoint presentation in Notes
format - can anyone pls tell me why would my hidden files
(not selected for printing) affect the page numbering?

Example:
Slide 1 is not hidden - prints with page number 2
Slides 2 through to 10 are hidden - don't print
Slide 11 is printed as page 11 instead of page 2.

Is there anyway around this?
It seems to defeat the purpose of having the print option
to print hidden files.

did you place your slide number on the slide master? In this case, hidden
slides will be counted. If you place a page number on the notes master
instead, only the printed pages will be counted.
