HIDE TEXT ???

A

Aurora

I am using Word 2000.
Yesterday I presented a question regarding my header that would not print.
I Could see it on the screen but it did not print. Someone suggested that in
Tools > Options>print, I click the print hidden text. I did and everything
printed OK. But I do not know how the header got coded as "hidden text".
This is a file that has been passed around through a couple of people before
I got it back to format, proof and print. How do you "Hide Text" and How do
you "Un-Hide Text"? I have corrected this file enough to print, but would
really like to fix it properly by Un-hiding the header. Can anyone out there
help me or point me in the right direction????

Aurora,
You can hide text by selecting it and choosing Format - Font - check Hidden.
When you click the show/hide button ¶ on the toolbar you will see all the
text that has been
hidden as it will be underlined with a tiny dotted line. When you go to
Tools - options - view tab - check the box hidden text the dotted line will
not disappear even when you use the show/hide button. At least it does so in
Word 2003, not sure if the same behaviour is also true in earlier versions.
But I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

Aurora,
should be:
"...check the box hidden text the dotted line 'and the hidden text' will not
disappear even when you use the show/hide button". The print preview will
show you the text as it will be printed.
