Hiding resource cost

Does anyone who has access to enterprise resource pool will have visibility
to the cost setup for a resource ?

Is there a way to hide the cost column based on project server roles ?

We are planning to use loaded cost for every resource something that cannot
be visible to all. or even to PMs who may have access to enterprise resource
pool.

Are you talking about hiding the cost data from PM's or are you talking
about hiding it from resources? I'll let our server gurus talk about how
server roles control access as I'm not a server guru but I have to interject
and wonder how you could expect Project Managers to do their jobs without
access to the cost data. IMHO, a PM's basic responsibility is to design and
manage the project so that it comes in on schedule and under budget. How
can he possibly create a plan that meets specific cost objectives if he
doesn't know what the resources he's drawing on are going to cost?

To put it bluntly - if they're not high enough in the organization to be
trusted with cost data, they're not high enough to really be a manager
responsible in charge of delivering the completed project. You wouldn't
expect a functional department head to prepare a staffing budget for the
coming year without access to salary data would you? Why would you expect a
PM to be able to successfully manage his area of responsibility with less
information?

If a project manager has permission to open a project in Project Server,
then he/she can also see the Std. Rate and Ovt. Rate for each resource
he/she has permission to see in the system. You can hide these columns in
enterprise resource views in Microsoft Project Professional, but any savvy
user of the software can easily insert the columns again.

In Project Web Access views, on the other hand, you can hide these columns
and set permissions so that only those who should have access can actually
see the data. Hope this helps.
