Hiding timeline info on some tasks but not others

A

Ashley Matteson

I have a project that has mixed some definate task start dates and some with
unknown dates. I am trying to hide the time line graph on those tasks that
do not have a definate start date.

EXAMPLE: PROJECT START DATE = 1 OCT 04
TASK A = 60 Days and starts 1 OCT 04
TASK B = 30 Days but does NOT start 1 OCT 04
Unknown Start

The number of days for Task B is correct WHEN IT IS STARTED. If it show up
on the time line starting 1 OCT 04 like the rest of the tasks then 60 days
later people will ask why it is not done. If I knew a start date I could
select start on and put in the date, but I do not know the date, just the
length. It would be best if I could hide the data from the time line to
avoid confusion.

If anyone has an answer, please post it here and if possible, email me at
[email protected]

THANKS!

Hi Ashley,

Having seen a number of posts from you, it is patently obvious that you
desperately need some training! Get a course on project management
techniques on which Project is based, followed by a couple of days
introduction to Project. Otherwise you'll get more and more frustrated, and
we cannot possibly run a course for you in the newsgroups! In the event, you
will get up and running and effective much more quickly than otherwise. Get
some of the basics under your belt first, and then ask specific questions
from the strengh of a basic understanding of the techniques. Meanwhile, you
might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the TechTrax
ezine, at this site: http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc (Perhaps you'd care to rate
the articles before leaving the site, :) Thanks.)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
