Hieroglyphics appearing in my docs????

Darrell

Greetings,

I have had an intermittent problem of text turning to
hieroglyphics in word 2002. This usually happens when I am working on a
document for a for a while. Since this is happening frequently, I am
scrolling back periodically to check and then doing saves. Sometimes when I
scroll back, several paragraphs have turned to hieroglyphic characters.

My computer config is XP Home Addition, Office XP professional, and a
Netgear wireless network. The doc I am working with and doing periodic saves
to resides on another computer on the network. The only difference between
this system and others I use is, the wireless USB network adapter.

Since I am working with a doc on another system on the network, could this
be a glitch in the wireless setup during a save or a autorecovery save?

Thanks for any help on this.

can you still recover your document? Or is it "hosed up" once this happens??

I have a similar problem at the Univ where I work where students' in my labs
Word files turn into wierd Fonts/symbols just out of the blue, with no way
to undo the font change, and their file is gone pretty much with no way to
recover.

yep, that is exaclty what happens. the only way back is from a recent save
but somtimes I have saved it with this problem and didn't know it. Then it
is gone for good.

Suzanne,

Will checking the "Make local copy of files stored on network or removable
drives" fix this problem without having to save to local computor and then
copying back to network computer when done?

Thanks!

For my situation, my problem has affected people storing their file on the
(Novell) network drive, AND while creating/storing the file on the local
desktop (or so I'm told....)
