highlight/copy/pasteover

I'm trying to do something that used to work in the past in Word and Outlook.
I would highlight text, then copy text and try to paste it over the
highlighted text and the copied/pasted text would replace the highlighted
text. However, now it just dumps in beside the hightlighted text and doesn't
delete it. Any suggestions.

Open Word,(because you are using for your e-mail editor) Tools, Options,
Edit, "Typing replaces selection" (put a tick in the box)
