highlight multiple doc files, right click and open doesn't work

I have a user that wants to open multiple doc files at once. She highlights
the documents she wants to open, right clicks, selects open, and nothing
happens. It continues to act as though nothing had happened. It doesn't
freeze, it doesn't hesitate, nothing. Any suggestions on this? Thanks in
advance for any help with this.

Do they open if she presses <enter> once the files are highlighted?

Yes, if she highlights multiple documents and presses <enter> they will open,
it only happens when she tries to right-click | open
