Highlight or Trace a Motion Path

Is it possible to Highlight or trace a motion path? I want to show movement
from point a to point b, but I also want to "leave a trail"...a line or
something that remains behind to show the path that was taken.

Bob,
Draw a dotted lines over the applied motion path. Assign a wipe effect to
this shape and set it to animate with the motion path with the same
duration. As the shape motions from Point A to B the dotted line should
appear.
