Highlighting a word and Backspace doesn't Delete

When I high Light a word of sentence to delete it, it
doesn't delete, the cursor just goes to beginning of the
highlighted word. I have to delete words and sentences 1
letter at a time! Does anyone know how to fix this?

The same for ya, Just open, Tools/Options/Edit, Mark "Typing Replaces
Selection" press OK, and that's it.
