Is it possible to highlight a single/multiple words within a cell?

"Highlight" means different things to different people. To me it means
surround with dancing girls. So, no, that isn't possible. Sorry.

I like the girls! However, I meant to highlight with a color.

Yes, select the word in the formula bar using mouse or shift<>arrow then do
format>cells and use a coloured font or press F2 and use arrow keys and
shift<>arrow to do the same

If it's text in that cell (not a formula and not a number), then you can select
the characters you want to highlight in the formula bar and click on the
formatting (font color/font size/bold/italics) buttons--or go through
format|Cells.

Still not clear Mike. Do you want colored font or colored background? If
font is the answer is yes, if background, no.
To color part of a string (not numbers and not formulas, even if they return
a string):
-Press F2 to go into edit mode
-Select the substring within the string to color.
-Press Ctrl-1 and select the color, font type, bold, etc., that you want.
