hit counter doesn't show

N

Nancy F

I'm using Front Page 2000 to publish my husband's web
site. I just tried to add a hit counter, but after
publishing twice it still comes up as the dreaded red "X".
The page is hosted by ReadyHosting, which supports FP.

The counter is at the bottom of the first page...

Any suggestions are welcome!

Open the live site directly in FP and see if it works after deleting and
adding a new one. If not then you need to contact your host and ask them to
run a check on the extensions.

As I just found out the hard-way, the webprovider
probably does not support frontpage server extensions.
Some dynamic content in Fp is fully dependant on these
extensions to work properly

In the OP's case, they do have extensions installed.
He must contact his host to have them put write permissions on the _private
folder and it's hit counter contents.

Well, they SAY they support FP extensions, and the rest of
it seems to work fine, but the hit counter is a no-go. I
guess I'll have to take it up with them. Thanks!

Have the host check the permissions on the _private folder.
