Hit Counter Issues

Hello -- I am working with FrontPage 2003 and I use FTP to upload to the
server.

I programmed FP Hit Counter and when it is on the web - it does not work.
From MSN I know that some file extensions are required so I contacted my
Administrator and he indicated that our website is on a LINUX server and that
the file extensions are not installed. He indicated that I need to find
another method of displaying the count.

Is there a way around the server not having the correct extensions? Is
there any code that will allow the hitcounter to work on the LINUX server and
the Web App being designed in Frontpage?

Any help is appreciated

thank you in advance
Maria

The FrontPage hit counter requires FrontPage extensions installed on the
server, and pages MUST be published using HTTP, not FTP.

Hit counters are never accurate - they count the number of times a page is
downoaded, whether this is for a first time visit or just refreshing the
page. Alternatives (and more accuracy) are the web site statistics (if your
host provides them) or Google Analytics, among other products.
