Hit Counter won't count

I have inserted a hit counter into my website, but it doesn't work. It just
shows up as [Hit Counter]. Could someone please advise me on how to fix this.
It is driving me nuts. Thank you

Have you http published your site to a remote/host server that has the FP
server extensions installed and configured for your web?
