Hit Counter

When I try to insert a web component (a hit counter), it
just inserts text that says "hit counter". Even after I
publish it, that's all that shows up. Help???

Are you publishing via FP's http mode to a server that has the FP extensions?

I think so. I know the host server has FP extensions
installed. What do you mean by "http" mode? How can I
check? Thanks.

I always publish that way, I guess. When I go to publish
web, my Cute FTP program kind of takes over and publishes
to my site - http.bigbeatscene.com. Is there another way
to publish? In any case, that's how I've been doing it
and still that same problem. Thanks.

If Cute-FTP is used, then you are not publishing via FP's http mode and no run-time FP components
will work on the remote server. If the FP extensions are installed, then you have most likely
corrupted them by using FTP.

Kill CuteFTP
You must publish using FrontPage and publish to http://yourdomain.com or
your hit counter will never work.

CuteFTP breaks your FrontPage extensions every time you use it.
