Hit Counters

Each time I try to add a hit counter to the bottom of the
page it only shows up as a X inside a box when I use a
browser to view it. Is this normal? Will it work when
it's posted to the web? Am I doing something wrong?

I'm using Winodws 2000 with FP server extensions installed.

My hit counter shows up as an x in a box also but it
works fine when published.

Yes...when you publish, the counter will show up.
