Hold down Enter key to auto-repeat in Excel 2007 Find dialogue

Roger

This is a bug report.

In Office 2007 Beta 2, if you use the Find & Replace dialogue to search for
a term with multiple matches, I would expect to be able to hold down Enter or
Return to repeat. This does not work.

Hi Roger,

I'm not sure what advantage there would be to 'holding down' a key. It would basically 'zoom' through the matching finds, not stop
on each one in a continuous loop. Pressing enter in the find dialog after the initial 'hit' does jump you to the next find in both
Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 and there is a 'Find All' choice in the Find (Ctrl+F) dialog that will give you a list of all of the
results where the search term is found.

You may want to use the link below to post in the MS Excel newsgroup directly on this one.

Bob,

Thanks for your reply.

If there are hundreds of matches to my search, I might want to scroll down a
long way. While you're right that I wouldn't be able to read each match
carefully, I may be able to see other formatting or context in the
spreadsheet that lets me know when I'm approaching the match I want; then I
can slow down and press the key repeatedly instead of holding it down.

I'll spend more time with Find All to see if it's suitable.
