home page will not preview. can't load internet site file?

all of a sudden I get an error message when trying to open my home page in
preview. the message says site cannot be opened.. path is tempdir and then
each time there is a different file listed.

Expression Web Designer and SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.
