home&student 2008 and exchange

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have home&student 2008 and can download entourage 2008 (with exchange support) from my email provider.
However, i'm having a nightmare getting them to work together.
If i install home&student first, then install entourage, it kills my word, excel and ppt.
If i install entourage first, then home&student (unchecking the optiton to install entourage from that disc - though i tried it leaving that checked too), it says that my version of entourage won't work with exchange.

Install Standalone version of Entourage from Exchange Email Provider with
the Home & Student Version
