host with 2003 windows, Big Mistake I think???

Because i was a novice i used a template from sharepoint services to build a
web site. Now I am wondering if i have created more trouble for myself. I
had no idea where to begin designing so i was pleased to have a template to
amend.

Then I saw that You could have a drop down navigational bar, perfect for my
new business cos i have loads of categories and would be great for ease of
use.

Now I have just been to 1&1 and it seems they charge £14.95 a month for what
i need.

(Microsoft SharePoint Hosting from 1&1 is the ideal communication platform
for teams that need to share information, providing an online community for
document collaboration.)

Problem is I don't plan to have an online community but an online business.
Hellllllp me pleeeeeeese

It sounds to me like you need a regular ISP, but then I don't know what 1&1
is.

what you need, more than sharepoint or any specific host is a good plan on
what it is your website is supposed to accomplish for you etc.

there may be no reason at all for you to need a sharepoint portal type
application and a navigation bar shouldn't be part of the decision making
process.

I would consider looking at "regular" web templates at places like
www.pixelmill.com to see if anything catches your eye.

I would possibly consider hiring someone to get you started since it's
easier to maintain and manipulate a web then it is to start from scratch
(especially when you've got other business obligations).

also, don't go for a "cheap" host, since it's a very important component of
your online business. but just because a host isn't "cheap" doesn't mean
they're good.

1. Search for host offering Windows 2003 server hosting.
2. Then narrow this search down to those who also offer Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) is more
expensive because it uses MS SQL Server.

Note: Windows SharePoint Services is different from SharePoint Team Services.
