Hotmail on Entourage displays my actualanonymous identity to recipient!!

Okay.. for +10 years I have had a Hotmail account I use just when conducting transactions on the web I want to be anonymous - buying and selling on Craigslist, posting to forums like this :) where I just want to be anonymous.

So, my Hotmail account uses a fake name, not my own. I have used Entourage since day 1 and have a Hotmail account setup in Entourage to send/receive emails. I have the account in Entourage setup to mimc and use the same fake name/identity as my Hotmail account. I also have Entourage setup to use the same reply email account if I receive via Hotmail. All works perfect.

BUT, what I started to notice is that when I sent Hotmail emails through Entourage, somehow, after a few back and forth with whomever, they started to have my actual real name.. but it is tied to my Hotmail address in our emails. How is this even possible? So for example, I send my Hotmail and my fake account name is say Bob Jones with Hotmail address of say (e-mail address removed).. but my real name is say Bill Wilson.. well after a while, I notice in the persons replies I see my fake name of Bob Jones gets substituted for my REAL name of Bill Wilson but it still uses (e-mail address removed) for the email. How is this possible? I assume it is a glitch in Entourage as somewhere along the line, it is making a swap or something and giving my real name. Make sense? Any ideas?

Make sense? Any ideas?

Under Message in the Menu bar, select Source. Follow the conversations in
Source to see what might have changed.

Are you using Hotmail as a POP account in Entourage or the traditional web
account?

Read the source? You need a degree to read that gibberish.

I setup the POP method, but I think it still does the same from a few quick tests???

The original Hotmail account I have setup in Entourage uses the default Account set up - so it is not a POP account.

In the top part where it shows the sender etc. it's not bad. You don't need
to read the body of the message. Try checking the Internet Headers. It's an
abbreviated version of the Source.

Sorry, but I have no info on this and no way to help you track it down. I
don't use Hotmail. Most of our tips come from experience. There is no book.

This may describe your problem. If so, you have nothing to worry about.
