Hourglass comes up when going between split screens.

When working in excel 2003 I try to copy and paste in the same workbook in
split screens, from one screen to the other. The hourglass comes up for about
5 or 10 seconds and it erases the clipboard. My laptop has excel 2000 and I
don't have this problem. What's up and how do I fix it. It's extremely
frustrating!
The hourglass comes up just going from one screen to the other even I just
want to view something on the other screen.

Does the same files work differently on the Desktop vs the
laptop?...........if not, one or another file might contain an event
"activate" or "deactivate" or "open" or "close" macro...........

Thanks for the response.
I worded it wrong. It is the same workbook, just arranged horizontial. Yes
it has a macro, but after your email I removed the macro and it still does
the same thing. I could swear the laptop acted differently, but now it is the
same way. Laptop is office 2002 sp 3. desktop is office 2003, but that
appears irrelevant at this point. Both are xp professional. When I do a
formula there is no hourglass and it goes to the other workbook instantly. Am
I crazy or was it always this way? Is this an enhancement? It sure is a pain
as I want to work between the two screens and copy back and forth and it
won't let me. I have workbooks that are 75 to 100 sheets and I have to go
back and forth between tabs on the same workbook just to copy very long
sentences, and paragraphs etc.
I tried going between two different workbooks for example Company A and
Company B and I can go back and forth, and copy and paste all I want, but if
I have two different windows of the same workbook open I can't go from
Company A workbook 1 to Company A workbook 2 without the hourglass and losing
the clipboard.
Help? Or is that just the way it is?

I figured out my problem. I added another program that integrates with excel
and that is the program that causes my problem. I used the same excel
spreadsheet (macro and all) on my wife's computer and it goes from workbook
1 to workbook 2 perfectly. I then tried another computer and it worked
perfectly. The only difference is the "PPC" program. That's why my laptop
worked before and then all of a sudden didn't, I added the "PPC" program to
my laptop. I know it was simple to figure out, but I didn't think that the
other program would interfere with excel.

Thats great that you discovered the problem...............and thanks for
giving us the feedback. BTW, exactly what is the "PPC
Program?.............I have a similar thing going on with my work
computer.........I have one Excel Program which contains quite a bit of VBA
and it just will not open on my work computer, yet opens on another computer
at work and my laptop and my home computer........maybe I've got the "PPC",
or somthing similar..........
