Hours and Minutes to minutes

=HOUR(A1)*60+MINUTE(A1)
I am using the above to convert 6:47 a.m. to minutes it gives me 02 it
should be 407. I formatted the cell mm

It helps if one thinks clearly I suppose.

I formatted the cell as General and now all's well.

Aside formatting, you formula is too compliced for this case. Use:
=A1*24*60
