Hours Disappearing in Previous Time Periods in My Tasks

B

Bryan

Hello!

I am having an issue where submitted hours do not appear in the My
Task web part for previous time periods. We are using MOPS 2007
(fully patched EXCEPT for Feb. 2010 CU) with timesheets turned OFF.
The issue does not affect every user.

From what I have seen, when it is working properly the previously
submitted hours that live in the work plan should populate when a user
clicks the "Previous" button. Many of my users do not see any values
when they click "Previous".

I haven't been able to dig anything on this up and I would like to
figure this out as my resources are getting frustrated as they have
secondary time entry systems that they sync their time up to.

As always I am hapy to provide any additional information the MVPs
would need to help me out.

Thanks!

Bryan, think it might be useful for us to connect as we run an org without
timesheet component and do track time only through task hours entered against
projects. my email is (e-mail address removed)

Now on to your question, I suspect that some of the users may have
inadvertently updated their previous period hours to zero which means it will
not show up again. Also, note that it looks like any user can go back and
update their hours for any task, even if it was approved already....

I have a similar question posted for the MVPs to possibly clue us in on this.

I do know that any user can go back and update time for any task that
has been published, but I am fairly positive that the users are not
going back and accidentally entering in zeroes. We have been simply
setting the Publish flag to "No" once a task completes so they can't
update completed tasks.

Hi Bryan,

if you set Publish to 'No', this task is not displayed in 'My Tasks' any
longer. So I expect that you are not only missing hours but the whole task?

Hi Barbara,

The issue is that hours are missing for published tasks. We don't
publish completed tasks so users don't update them after they are
complete.

Hi Bryan,

so I misunderstood your comment regarding publish = no - sorry.

I have seen that in two situations so far:
- before CU December and
- with Hammock tasks. Do you use them
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/141733/en-us)? In this case actuals are
moved while opening the plan in ProjProf into the specified period.

Sorry, no more ideas ...

The task does not have any predecessors and no other tasks have it as
a predecessor. The only issues I see with it is that the resources
are over-allocated and it is a constraint type of "Finish No Earlier
Than." It's a Fixed Work task.

Not sure if this info will generate any ideas.

Thanks!
