household features for outlook

Create a “home†edition of Outlook. I am at home with my 3 kids and would
like a version Oulookk to keep me organized. I am looking for the following
features:
• Contacts that can be linked by family
o So that anniversaries aren’t listed twice
o So that you can create a holiday card/email list
o Link the picture software built into windows so that I may “tag†the
people in the pictures using my contact list
• Separate calendars can be merge for one big family calendar but also kept
separate for each person
• Tasks are easier to set up for household maintenance and not based on users
This would enable me to synch better with my Motorola Que, collaborate with
my husband and his blackberry and any future devices my children may use

What version of Outlook do you have now?
• Contacts that can be linked by family
can be done now - use the Contacts field. (In Outlook 2007, go to tools,
options, contacts and enable linking.)
o So that anniversaries aren’t listed twice
Only put them in one contact. If you make two contacts for a couple, only
put it in the contact for the person closest to you. Or always put it in
either the man or woman's contact.

I make 1 contact for the family with all the info and additional ones for
the spouse (or kids) with cell phone # (& email) only to sync with my
blackberry.
o So that you can create a holiday card/email list
I have no problem making a holiday card list.
o Link the picture software built into windows so that I may “tag†the
people in the pictures using my contact list
Maybe in a future version. Current versions of Outlook predate the tagging
craze.
• Separate calendars can be merge for one big family calendar but also
kept
separate for each person
Outlook 2007 can do this using the overlay feature.
• Tasks are easier to set up for household maintenance and not based on
users
I put everything in my task list and assign it to the proper person (by
email or just telling them to do it) when its due.
