Many users of Windows XP / IE 6 no longer have the ability to see Java Applets unless the individual
users have download and install Sun's Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The best solution is to not use
any Java Applets and instead use JavaScript to handle effects, etc.

they require java, which WIndows XP (any version) does not have included.
try using rollover buttons (not the same thing as hover buttons).
