How am I able to date splits in a task?

I am new to MS Project and need to have occasional split tasks. I have
managed to split the the task but need to date each split. Hope that makes
sense to someone.

hi,

These dates are available in the STOP and RESUME fields.
Click INSERT on the menu bar and select COLUMN. In the column addition
dialog box select these two fields so that they are displayed in your view.
