How can I activate product when help menu button does NOTHING?

I am trying to activate Office but when I go to the help menu and select
Activate Product precisely nothing happens. I am connected to the Internet
but it brings up no screen at all. Doesn't try to dial anything. Processer
light not active on the base unit. Simply nothing happens.
Great when trying to meet essay deadlines.

Any suggestions?
