How can I add a functional calendar to my Website using Publisher

A

Araani

I am creating a website suing Publisher and have added the Calendar feature
as a page. I am unable to change the dates and add events on the calendar and
would like to know how to do so.

Thanks for your help.

Publisher calendars are static (not dynamic)
You can edit the events on any day but to change the date you need to create
a new calendar for that month. For a 12 month look you would have 12 pages.
Create a 12 month calendar publication and convert it to a web page.

FWIW, you can insert just a calendar by Insert > Design Gallery Object. You
don't have to insert 12 pages.

A functional calendar would either php or asp depending on what your host
supports. A good free calendar is webcalendar (PHP). Also requires a mysql
database installed on your website. Check your host site and see what they
support some already have webcalendar available you just have to ask them to
install it...just depends on host.

You would also want to install this in a subweb of your main site.

It's not something you can do with Publisher.

If you are wanting a static calendar then it is easy enough to add a
calendar page or an individual calendar(s) in Publisher. Those calendars are
simply tables and as such you can edit each cell to add events/text. You can
also insert hyperlinks if you want.

If you want a more dynamic calendar there are other options. You could
produce the calendar using a third party solution, and then import it into
your page using an i-frame. More complicated, but doable. Here is an
interesting source describing some of the other options on how to create an
on-line calendar: Creating an Online Event Calendar:

By the way, if you do opt to create a calendar using Outlook, Yahoo
Calendar, WebCalendar or any of the other third party options described in
the referenced article, you are not limited to integrating with an i-frame.
You can simply upload the calendars to a subfolder and link to it from your
Publisher web site.

Yes, except if he's making use of http:// publishing via FPSE.

Yes David, a great resource indeed.

DynamicDrive offers infinite possibilities by adapting their scripts to
accomplish just about anything you want. Most scripts can be altered well
beyond the customization tips provided on some of the DD pages.
