You can't attach a file to a fax like you can an email. What you need to do
is open your resume in Word, Print the resume to the Fax (Windows XP has a
pretty good fax program included if it is installed) program and fill in the
information on the cover page in the Windows Fax program. Send the fax this
way and you won't have any problems.

It even includes a Cover page designer. Click Start, Programs, Accessories,
Communications, Fax, Fax Cover Page Editor. Adding a logo to the page is
simple. Open the logo in any program (you can even do it in Word, Insert
picture from file) then highlight the picture and Click Edit, Copy (or Ctrl
& C keys). Move the Cover Page Editor and Paste the image (Ctrl & V keys).

Fax Console, accessed same place as Cover Page Editor, is where you set up
the fax (see the tools tab). Help is also very available.

Further; How you send a cover page, together with a document, depends
entirely on the fax application you are using.
