How can I attach note to a sent e-mail

I have sent an e-mail and received a verbal reply. I wish to attach a note
to the e-mail I sent regarding the verbal comments.

Depending on your version of Outlook, (which you really should supply,
as versions are different), have you looked at opening the message and
(in 2007) doing Other Actions-Edit Message?
