how can i best manage multiple folders and folders in outlook 2007

we maintain all email traffic on all cases and everything is subdivided into
folders and subfolders. the issue is that now we have a couple pst file over
a gig large and thousands of sub/folders in them. we can't just do a search
throughtout the entire pst file but instead we have to find the folder
manually.
is there a piece of software or addin for Outlook 2007 that we could
recommend to our IT dept. that can help with this matter? we need to maintain
the organization of the files and folders, and make searching easier.

Windows Desktop Search might help. Lookeen is a well-liked search tool as
well.
