How can I change column headers from numeric to alpha?

I have a spreadsheet where somehow the column headers got changed from alpha
to numeric. How can I change them back?

Tools>Options>General tab, uncheck R1C1 reference style

<tools><options><general tab>...UNcheck: R1C1 reference style.
