I have a black and white logo but now have access to a colour printer and
would like to change it to colour.

The logo has been saved as a Word document.

Word doesn't have the tools you need to do this.

Follow the instructions at
http://www.gmayor.com/extract_images_from_word.htm to make a separate
graphics file containing the logo. Then edit that file in a graphics
editor. You already have Microsoft Paint, which comes with Windows but
is limited. There are a number of better editors, several of which can
be downloaded for free -- for example, Paint.Net
(http://www.getpaint.net/) and The GIMP
(http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html).
