How can I disable synchronization manager; continually freezes my

All of a sudden synchronization manager is freezing my computer. I haven't
made any recent changes so not sure what is happening.
When I open outlook (I do have one exchange account; the other accounts are
hotmail/MSN) synchronization manager starts up. It takes forever unless I
manually shut it down. I have it set up so it should not be running but it
does anyway. When I try to stop it I get the message "offline webpages
synchronization does not seem to be responding". It is trying to synchronize
http://r.office.microsoft.com/r/rlidOutlookRSS?clid-1033"; I don't know what
this is. I do not have any RSS feeds so I don't know what it's try to do.
How can I either permanently disable synchronization manager or figure out
what it's trying to do.
Thanks
