How can I edit points on a basic shape or block arrow?

I want to take the basic shapes and block arrows and use "edit points" in
order to change their shapes. You can do this with freeform lines and
curves. Any suggestions how to do this? A conversion that I'm missing?

Try this
Copy
paste special (as enhanced meta file)
ungroup (maybe twice)
right click > edit points

You can't. I believe you will need to use freeform of draw the block arrow
instead, in order to edit points.

Jeff,
Select your basic shape, block arrow. Copy it, paste special as a Windows
metafile. Now select the copy you pasted, right click it, choose group -
ungroup, click Yes to convert it. Right click again, and again choose
group - ungroup. Now you should have two shapes one is the basic shape the
other the background shape. Right click the shape and choose edit points.
Add, move, remove points at will.
Is that what you want?

Thanks much....it does take two ungroupings.
